Can’t possibly be day 7?
Today’s accomplishment was crossing the Delaware. The tiny little piece of history commemorated by a famous artist that was not satisfied with his painting until he had done it three times. Read about it and see it here:

Hey we started out in Pennsylvania, and somehow or another we went throughDelaware, a piece of Maryland, then confusingly we were back in Pennsylvania, and then we drove into New Jersey, but not before we drove past a sign post welcoming us to New York. Don’t ask I can’t figure it out. We stopped a lot today. It just worked out that way. And what my addled brain really cannot grasp right now is how this can be day seven on the road Because I left on Thursday so tomorrow would really be day six and Thursday would be day 7, one week!
We are spending the night at a New Jersey state park for 30 whole dollars. They gave us a site right up next to their lovely “lake” which really resembles more of a algal pond. I’m OK with not being able to see it. With Eric‘s help, and a very nice lady at Leonards license plate company, I now have a transponder for using bridges and turnpikes and being able to smoke on through the lane for people that have thought ahead.
Unlike last night As I was making my way to this park I saw a fast food place and I stopped and got a late lunch and an early dinner. I will not be having coffee and Froot Loops for dinner tonight! They provide you with a flat space a picnic table that’s really nice, and a fire pit oh and a lantern hanging thing. That’s it. I’m glad I filled both of my power stations last night at the park with electricity. The map says I have 600 more miles to go. And, frankly that’s starting to sound a little overwhelming.
It’s been surprising to me how not planning ahead and not spending hours trying to figure out how far I can drive in a day because I just don’t know even know, there’s been a park somewhere for me to pull into. Except for the two nights I spent in a hotel and don’t regret for a moment. I’m all about planning and having a map of the trip with all of the activities or stops. It was the guys at the Rite Aid pharmacy that pointed to Leonards license company in their same parking lot that helped me find the transponder gizmo! I am using about a half a dozen different camping apps and some offer some stuff and some offer other stuff. It’s kind of hard to put it all together. Now pulling into this place tonight was kind of fun. They don’t take anything for granted.
We will sleep well tonight I hope. The van is kind of a Lego project on the interior. Last night we finally got the right interior arrangement figured out. Brooklyn and I both had a really good nights sleep. And it felt good. So I’m looking forward to another good nights sleep tonight. There are signs up all over though, and the Ranger who checked me in warned me that I have a sizable black bear population in this park. We’ll be buttoned up in our fan but then I’ve seen videos of what bears can do with one. I parked it so that we are facing out and all I have to do is jump in the seat and leave. I have a feeling that retrievers smell like dinner to a bear. I probably have lots of gristle and fat that would make me a tasty meal. I think I’ll leave my hearing aids on tonight. Still can’t upload pictures but I will someday soon.
