Can’t possibly be day 7?

Today’s accomplishment was crossing the Delaware. The tiny little piece of history commemorated by a famous artist that was not satisfied with his painting until he had done it three times. Read about it and see it here: https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/11417  Hey we started out in Pennsylvania, and somehow or another we went throughDelaware, a piece of Maryland, then confusingly we were back in Pennsylvania, and then we drove into New Jersey, but not before we drove past a sign post welcoming us to New York. Don’t ask I can’t figure it out. We stopped a lot today. It just worked out that way. And what my addled brain really cannot grasp right now is how this can be day seven on the road Because I left on Thursday so tomorrow would really be day six and Thursday would be day 7, one week! We are spending the night at a New Jersey state park for 30 whole dollars. They gave us a site right up next to their lovely “lake” which really resembles more of a algal pond.  I’m OK

Day six? Really?

We got an early start. I had a fun FaceTime with Jeny and got to hear about her Iron Man experience. We left Winchester and made it through a part of West Virginia, a piece of Maryland, and we are now set up to camp at a beautiful park in Pennsylvania. We crossed the Susquehanna river today. If you would like to see what it looks like, this is somebody else’s photo, because if I tried to take a picture while driving we would be arranging for the wake now.  OK, pix come when I have more than one bar.  You’ll just have to wait.

Day five

I’ve made it all the way from the bottom of Virginia in Wyeth Ville to the pointy part at the top to a place named Winchester. The problem today is the weather. After having slept last night I feel a lot better. But I’m driving into a wall of water. Hell, thunder, lightning expected here all night, and I’m tired from a long day of driving across the entire state. We are not camping tonight. We stayed at another red roof inn, but talk about rowdy and loud and on a Sunday night my neighbors were playing loud music and I have to say I was a little unnerved by the amount of noise in the parking lot. But I took my hearing aids out, and I slept all night. Very different vibe at this red roof inn then the last. Brooklyn was not a fan of this hotel. The floors here were wood, and when she would try to jump up on the bed, (yes I sleep with my dog), her backseat with just slip and slide and she couldn’t really jump that high because of it. I put a halter on her so I could grab her when she did

Day four

OK something has to give here. I need a good nights sleep. Tonight’s overnight is at a Red Roof Inn.  Really modest pricing and a decent room. Very quiet location. Very positive experience. I slept.  Just into Virginia, barely.

Day threeJust looked at Brooklyn and barked at her and she started to shiver with fear. Fortunately responsible owners were keeping the aggressive dog close to them. Up an hour early for the next day.

Spent the night in Wyttheville, TN..  woke up with really crappy tendonitis due to sleeping weird.  Blaugh.  This is fun!  Here is where we spent the night.  Really lovely spot but packed in like sardines.  A HUGE Rotweiller Just looked at Brooklyn and barked at her and she started to shiver with fear. Fortunately responsible owners were keeping the aggressive dog close to them. Up at an hour early for the next day of adventure.

Day two

Stopped at a campground just N of Chattanooga as planned.  Decent set up.  Miserable sleep.  New sleeping arrangements necessary.  Loved the wind-battered tree in the photo.

Taking off for Nova Scotia!

There are a select few who are receiving iMessage about my upcoming vacation. It is my hope that on Thursday morning of this week I will be leaving for my first leg of my trip to Nova Scotia. I have reservations at a federal department of agriculture camping site with electricity and water. With my America the beautiful card it will cost me 18 whole dollars. How prepared am I? Have a compressor refrigerator to keep a constant group of cold drinks at hand. Might also have meats for meals, fruit, and pretty much anything else that needs refrigeration. . I have a 300 W power supply that will keep my CPAP doing that CPAP thing. I have a 400 W power supply that will keep the refrigerator rocking along at night when I’m not running a car. I have coats (plural, and lots of blankets).  I have a solar panel to recharge the power supplies. I haven’t quite figured out all of the electrical but somebody will help me out with that.
